Herkimer College Getting the Party Started
SPEEDMINTON® NEWS
Herkimer College located in New York has announced it will be incorporating Speedminton® and Nightminton® into its programs. Jason Palkovic, Herkimer's Intramural Director couldn't be more amped about bringing this new sport to his programs. "This is going to be fun and we plan on incorporating it into not only our intramural program but into many other school events as well. This is a game that gives our students both fitness and fun," he states.
Speedminton®, which is a combination of racquetball, tennis and badminton, is all the rage on college campuses in Europe and is just now making its way to the U.S. The night version which is played with black light’s, face paint and lights in the equipment, is called Nightminton® and it's becoming the hottest campus sport around. The great thing about both games is that you don't need a net, you don't need to build any new facilities and it can be played anywhere and at anytime. Herkimer Physical Education teacher, Rich Dommer will be teaching the sport in his classes. This will be our test and if the students like it as much as we think they will, we'll expand it," states Palkovic.
Look for some Speedminton® and Nightminton® tournaments to be held at Herkimer and many other campuses around the country.
